PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, MARCH 21, 2023 : Professor Om Prakash Mishra has rejoined as the Vice Chancellor of North Bengal University for the next two months. His appointment has come in the wake of pressure and protest from the staff and students for the past couple of days that a Vice Chancellor must be appointed immediately. 
Mishra landed at Bagdogra Airport from Kolkata on Tuesday and went directly to the NBU. University officials and staff welcomed him as he entered the campus. 
Earlier, he had functioned as Vice Chancellor of NBU for three months. After the expiry of his tenure, however, NBU had been left without a Vice Chancellor for 55 days.
Immediately after assumption of the office, Mishra appointed Principal Secretary of the Under Graduate Council Nupur Das as the officiating Registrar of the University. and Associate Professor and former Head of the Department of Economics Amlan Majumder, as officiating Finance Officer. 
All sections of the university community comprising teachers, officers, non-teaching staff, students and research scholars have heartily welcomed the assumption of the responsibility by Mishra. 
During the day he met and briefly interacted with 32 Principals of affiliated colleges of the NBU who were in a meeting in the university with regard to implementation of certain aspects of the implementation of the new Curriculum and Credit Framework for undergraduate programmes. 
Mishra has assured to extend cooperation to the Darjeeling Hills University and has assured to work in close cooperation with Professor. Prem Poddar, who is expected to assume responsibility of Vice-Chancellor of Darjeeling Hills University soon
