Man burnt to death in house fire

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, MARCH 14, 2023: Dikaman Rai (75) living in a house at Mula Santuk under Santuk Gram Panchayat in the Kalimpong district died when the house caught fire early on Tuesday.
There was no power supply in the area and the fire was suspected to have started from a candlelight.
The fire completely razed the two-storied wooden house. The funeral of Dikaman Rai’s elder sister was scheduled to be held in the house on Thursday and all the materials brought for the religious ceremony were also completely lost.
Villagers tried to douse the flame but failed to save the wooden structure. The body of Dikaman Rai was sent to Kalimpong Hospital for postmortem.
