Hills gossip on tweet of Subramanian Swamy and visit of Bimal Gurung to Delhi

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 6 March 2023 : A tweet by the Rajya Sabha MP of the ruling BJP at the center, Subramaiyan Swamy, created a stir across the Darjeeling and Kalimpong Hills and the Gorkha community all around the nation. Subrahmanyam

I met Gurung yesterday again at Satya Sabharwal Adv.'s residence for drafting a demand for autonomous region of Gorkhaland within Bengal.…I met (Bimal) Gurung yesterday again at Satya Sabharwal Adv.’s (advocate) residence for drafting a demand for autonomous region of Gorkhaland within Bengal,”  

After some hour, Swamy again retweeted a tweet from a handle, Tejas, where the text was changed to "On Saturday at Delhi, Dr. Subramanian @Swamy39  and Advocate @satyasabharwal met Mr. Bimal Gurung founder and the president of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha & his Team in Delhi. They discussed the strategy forward for Gorkhaland, as promised by BJP manifesto @jagdishshetty @vhsindia .

Earlier he had stated that BJP's Lok Sabha poll promises in 2014 should be reviewed at the party level because we have not kept most of its promises. Gorkhaland should be given priority. It is important to form a union territory there. This demand has been strengthened by the party's Darjeeling MLA Neeraj Zimba the BJP MLA from Darjeeling. 

As the municipality and panchyat election is approaching, slowly the political situation is warming up in the Hills and demand of a separate statehood is gaining momentum while the BJP leadership of the plains is keeping itself silent. 

Praveen Agarwal, district president of BJP said, "It is a matter to be decided by the central and state leaders. I can't say anything.'' Several district leaders of the party said, ''If the issue of the state division comes up in the district, it will have an impact on the polls in the plains. 

While Gautam Deb, TMC leader said, "The division of the state is far-fetched. People will teach the conspirators to divide the soil of Bengal and the BJP's divisive politics is evident in the Delhi and Jharkhand polls. Trinamool will stop tooth and nail.” 

CPM leader and former MP Saman Pathak stated that the people of the hills are against the BJP over CAA, NRC. BJP didn't do anything that indicates that they have no goodwill. 

A senior leader of the GJM said that not only Subrahmanyam Swamy or Neeraj Zimba, but also BJP MP from Darjeeling Raju Bista has been demanding a permanent solution to the problem of the Hills. It seems that the BJP is making a new strategy using the leaders of the Hills.
