CBI preparing list of people involved in tampering of OMR sheets

MP | 26 Mar 2023 | Kolkata: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is preparing a list of those involved in the tampering of OMR sheets in the SSC recruitment scam case. Niladri Das is a portfolio holder in a private company that was given the opportunity to make the MOR sheets. It is also alleged that Das was well connected with SSC officials and others holding a responsible chair at the commission. 

CBI has come to know that Das was getting instructions from SSC officials about whose OMR sheet was to be manipulated while the SSC officials were sending messages to those who became unsuccessful. 

The CBI has come to know that Das was earlier arrested by the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in an alleged cheating case in March 2019 from Delhi. He was arrested for duping people on the pretext of arranging jobs. He was allegedly tampering with the OMR sheets on the instruction of SSC officials. Interestingly, Das had recruited a few people against a good amount of money about which the SSC officials were unaware of. It is alleged that Das was adding names of unsuccessful candidates to the list which the accused SSC officials used to send. 

CBI has so far found that Das was in contact with Shanti Prasad Sinha, the former advisor of West Bengal Central School Service Commission, and several former chairmen of the SSC. After Das was arrested a few days ago, CBI found some text messages in his smartphone from a few SSC officials. The phone has also been sent for forensic examination as several pieces of data need to be retrieved.
