BJP to contest panchayat polls in hills of Darjeeling, Kalimpong

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, MARCH 25, 2023 :  BJP will contest the panchayat elections in the hills as these elections are important for the hills, BJP M.P. of Darjeeling Raju Bista announced in Mirik on Saturday. 

The BJP would have the main agenda of removal of Trinamool Congress and the current leadership of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration from the hills. 

He attended a meeting at Okaity. Bista sad there was widespread corruption in the hills and funds allocated from the Centre were being misused in West Bengal. 

There were 100,000 fake job cards in the Darjeeling hills and 60,000 fake job cards in Kalimpong. He indicated there was a scam in the water project as well. 

Now that the 100 days’ work had stopped, the pipes were bursting, he said. Plastic pipes had been used instead of GI pipes. 

Speaking on the land patta being distributed in the tea gardens, he said the State Government should give the right lease, not the refugee lease and should not give lease to the tea garden owners. As the M.P of the area, he would oppose the wrong lease
