SNS, SILIGURI, 21 DECEMBER 2022 : The Special Task Force (STF) today arrested a resident of Bihar, Guddu Kumar in Siliguri for his alleged involvement with espionage in the region for Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in the last few years. He had been living in the town for the past two years in a rented house with his wife at Bharat Nagar. Kumar would operate an e-rickshaw and originally hailed from Champaran.
"He has been arrested
today from the NIP area for his
relations with the ISI. It is
suspected he would share
vital information with the
Pakistan based spy agency. The
Jalpaiguri court has allowed him custody for 14 days.
The STF will interrogate him
and take the investigations further," sources at the STF said, refusing to give further information.
It is learnt that Kumar has been booked under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 9 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, read with section 120B of Indian Penal Code.
The STF had arrested a suspected ISI operative and Kalimpong resident Pir Mohammad on 23 September for allegedly transmitting sensitive information of vital army installations and troop movement in the region to Rawalpindi.
He had been living in Kalimpong for more than two decades and running a business of electronics sales and repairing.
Several persons have been arrested from Darjeeling district for allegedly spying for the ISI and passing over vital information about the army in the Siliguri corridor to the Pakistan military in the last few years.
