Kalimpong CPI(M) wants educationists from hills as VCs in universities

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, DECEMBER 30, 2022: CPI(M) leader from Kalimpong Tara Sundas demanded that the vice chancellors of North Bengal University and Darjeeling Hill University should be from the Darjeeling Hills.
Sundas said in a news conference in Kalimpong on Friday wondered where the educated people in the hills would go if all, from vice chancellors to teachers to the non-teaching staff in the universities in the region came to work from outside.
Most employees of different government departments in the hills were also coming to work from outside, he said.
He said there were several capable educationists from the hills like R.P.Dhakal, R. B. Bhujel, Ghanashyam Nepal, Mohan P.Dahal, Mahendra P. Lama, Diwakar Pradhan, Krishna Raj Ghatani and Sanjay Bantwa who were capable enough of taking up senior appointments in centres of higher education in the hills of north Bengal.
