30th National Children's Science Centre held, District level Poster and Model Competition held
KalimNews, Kalimpong , 16 October 2022: The 30th National Congress of National Children's Science Congress, in the Kalimpong District Level as had been organized separately for the past four years, was held today at the Centenary Hall of Kalimpong Girls' Higher Secondary School. Organized under the management of Kalimpong district administration, this time the creative poster and Innovative model competition and exhibition were also included.
The project paper presentation of the National Child Science Congress, was held on this year's theme "Understanding ecosystem for health and well-being" in which 9 schools participated . Out of this, two schools will be selected at a later date. These two schools were selected and declared as the district toppers of Kalimpong district. They will represent the district in the State level National Children's Science Congress to be held in Kolkata on 6th and 7th November.
16 schools participated for the creative posters competition in which Kalimpong Girls’ Higher Secondary School was declared the first, Army Public School was second and Rockvale Academy was declared third and received cash prizes. And out of 12 schools participating in the innovative model competition and exhibition Rockvale Academy was declared the first, 2nd position went to Pranami Valika Vidhya Mandir HS School and third to Kalimpong Girls Higher Secondary School and they also received cash prizes.
Dr. Samuel Rai, Director Cinchona and other Medicinal Plants Directorate was the chief guest and science speaker in this program presided over by Kalimpong District Magistrate R. Vimala. Dr. Rai addressed the audience on the theme and issue related to environment. Pritam Subba, District Planning Officer and Convenor of the committe, Laxana Goley, AI of Schools (Secondary Education ) were also present in the programme.
Certificates were awarded to all the contestants and Evaluators who were Aditya Subba of Dept of Geography and Ashish Chhetri of Dept of Zoology of Kalimpong Government College for Poster Competition. The Other Evaluators for Model competition were Dr Prosenjit Biswas of Physics Department, Dr. Saran Kumar Gupta of Botany Department of Kalimpong Government College and Dr. B B Gurung of Kalimpong Science Center. Evaluators of NCSC Project papers were Prof. Binoyraj Sharma and Dt Sarad Gurung of UBKV Regional Research Centre.
Dawa Tamang, Co-Coordinator of Science and Technology and Biotechnology Committee, Arun K Rai, District Coordinator of Kalimpong District Committee and Dr. Saroj Thapa, Coordinator of Poster and Model Competition, Asst. teacher SUMI coordinated the programme while it was conducted by Sarojni Basnet.
