NJP - Darjeeling DHR service gets Vistadome, AC restaurant coaches

EOI CORREPONDENTSILIGURI, SEPTEMBER 26/--/ Ahead of Puja, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway authorities have brought good news for tourists. The modern AC Vistadome coach started its journey from New Jalpaiguri station on Monday. 

Along with that there is an AC restaurant coach. Darjeeling MP Raju Bista flagged off its journey g on Monday. Also present on the occasion were Union Minister of State John Barla, Jalpaiguri MP Jayant Roy, BJP
State President Sukanta Majumder and senior officials of the Railways. This service will be available three days a week. 

The toy train service from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to Darjeeling has been disrupted several times due to landslides. 

The service resumed on Monday. A new feather was added, however, to the crown of the heritage toy train as the Vista Dome coach started its journey on the way to Darjeeling, carrying tourists from the plain to the hills. 

Tourists can now see the scenic beauty of the mountains from this coach. Not only that, DHR has also introduced a completely AC restaurant services for the convenience of tourists. As a result, while traveling from Siliguri to Darjeeling, besides enjoying the beauty of the winding mountain road, one will also get delicious food in the railway restaurant. 

This train will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from NJP and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from Darjeeling. 

According to the Railways, the Vistadome coach fare has been fixed at Rs1500 per passenger and the restaurant carfare has been fixed at Rs 1300.MP Raju Bista said: "With this addition the tourists rush will increase in the hills and it will help DHR to revive the toy train services."
