Amit Shah to inaugurate Sikkim Dairy Cooperative Conclave on 7 October

Aimed at strengthening the cooperative ecosystem in the Eastern and North-Eastern regions for the larger benefit of the local communities.

 SNS, 22 SEPTEMBER 2022: Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is all set to inaugurate the 'Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave' at Gangtok in Sikkim on 7 October, the chairman of the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI), Mangal Jit Rai, said today.

According to Mr Rai, the theme of the conclave is "Resilient Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Daily Cooperatives-Exploring the Challenges and Opportunities", and that it is aimed at strengthening the cooperative ecosystem in the Eastern and North-Eastern regions for the larger benefit of the local communities.

The conclave will be attended by the Chairman, National Dairy Development Board, Anand Gujarat, representatives from NABARD, NCDC, IRMA, Dairy Farmer Leaders (Chairmen/Directors) and Managing Director of the Cooperative Milk Unions and State Dairy Federations from Eastern and North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal.

Tamang (Golay) will he the guest of honour at the function, while Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma and other senior officials of the Ministry, top dignitaries of the Sikkim Government, including ministers, will actively participate in the conclave, Mr Rai said.

Mr Rai further said that taking inspiration from the Prime Minister's 'Digital India', NCDFI has initiated an online marketplace called 'NCDFI °Market' to provide transparent and fair dealings to trade bulk commodities to member dairy cooperatives with the patronage of the National Dairy Development Board.

Dairy product prices concluded at NCDFI eMarket become bench marking and the Ministry of Animal Husbandry collecting these prices weekly, officials said.
