
School teacher stoned to death in Sikkim, 2 women held

SUJAL PRADDHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, JUNE 2 2022: Garjaman Gurung, a 50-year-old teacher in a government primary school at Sardung in west Sikkim, was killed on Pelling - Dentam Road in Upper Lingchom Road on Wednesday.
He succumbed to head injuries due to alleged stone pelting. His body was found in a nearby drain. Two women, Kalpana Gurung (30) and Bina Rai (20) were arrested and a murder case was registered at the nearest police station.
The body of the victim was sent to STNM Hospital, Gangtok, for post mortem. Police sources said that both the victim and the accused were in a drunken state. The accused women were on their way home when they got into a violent scuffle with the victim for reasons unknown. All the three hailed from Sardung.

Gyalshing police stated as follows: In c/w GPS case FIR No-28, dated-23.6.22, u/s-302 IPC where a 50 years old teacher was murdered, two females aged about 20 & 30 yrs, both residents of Sardung, District Gyalshing have been arrested by Gyalshing PS after their alleged involvement was established in the instant murder case.
The incident had occurred in the late evening of 22.6.22 where the trio were returning home in an inebriated state where a brawl started. The above arrested ladies thereafter assaulted the deceased with stones over his head and left for home. The heavily bleeding deceased succumbed to his injuries at the soot itself.
The arrested females will be produced tomorrow before the Magistrate having jurisdiction.
