EOI, SILIGURI, JUNE 7 2022: An adult elephant suddenly came on the railway track between Sevoke and Gulma railway stations on Tuesday.

Seeing the elephant from a distance, the driver and the assistant driver of an approaching train applied the emergency brake and stopped the train.

Forest officials came to the spot and sent the elephant back to the forest. Occasionally there are reports of elephant deaths on the train track passing through Dooars.

Animal lovers are happy that the elephant survived on Tuesday due to the alertness of the drivers.
