CMTAI happens to be a member of American Dance Therapy Association and also a profound member of Conseil International De La Danse (Paris). CMTAI is associated with both the bodies.
The demand of the dance movement therapy ranges from special schools, hospitals, prisons, de-addiction centers & rehab.
Another dynamic icon of expressive arts and creative energy flow, is India’s leading practitioner of movement therapy, Angira Chakravorty Dasgupta.
To know the unknown, sense the body flow of infinite and create magic that rests the soul to peace is Angira’s specialization.
On the World Dance Day 2022 she states, that, regardless of foundation, regardless of caste, regardless of creed, dance and the divine rhythm of the universe connects all beings in equal measures.
Weaving the intricacies of metaphor, Angira confidently states, there is no looking back for Dance Movement Therapy practitioners and the profession’s scope in India and worldwide.
It has huge scope and inclusion in all the professional fields.
The dynamic forms that exists in India under the classical categorization are Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, etc
To deal with movement flow comes automatic and naturally to Angira, as she has been dealing with the nuances, intricacies and all things creative from the very start of her creative journey in life.
She quotes that,” There’s a mind. There’s the body. A ”rhythm” is required to keep the happy co-ordination between the two. My core attempt from the start was to attune people to this identified rhythm of life.”
In her words, rhythm of self discovery, rhythm of release, rhythm of healing, rhythm of self-development, rhythm of communication, rhythm of joy, it all connects very beautifully to the body and the dance of the divine spirituality.
Angira points out beautifully to, free the body from all inhibitions and rediscovering oneself. Letting go, release and realize the deep and moving psychological and emotional issues hidden within. Creating a stark change in one’s emotional, psychological, physical and mental state
Not only this, she says, that dance in the parallel universe helps one work towards becoming a better version of one self.
She further defines dance as the innate harmony that communicates with the inner self and environment. Dance as also, an instrument to experience ease, immense joy and harmony.
Lastly on the International World Dance Day 2022 Angira’s message not only to the eco system of dancers and dance movement therapists but masses in general is –
Everyone as in each individual should get process-oriented personalized services and mental health support they need through movements, expressive arts and dance.
Aim should be to provide movement based services that are accessible, culturally competent, holistic, and wellness-focused. In sync with creation and flow each and every one of us can discover our own unique language by expressing through art and find inherent joy in the process of being in harmony with oneself and with the environment.
