Workshop on eco-poetry in Siliguri on 29April
SNS, SILIGURI, 26 APRIL 2022: Acclaimed poet Rajaa is all set to conduct a workshop on ecopoetry at the Surya Sen Mahavidhyalaya in Siliguri on 30 April.
*Between the lines*, a book club of the Department of English at the College, in collaboration with the IQAC, be hosting the event titled 'When, What and Why of EcoPoetry.'
According to the organisers, Poet Rajaa will conduct the workshop on the evolution and trends of Eco-Poetry, and that the event will be followed by the recitation of self-composed poetry by students.
Born to a Punjabi father and Subba mother, poet, performer, artist, and lyricist Raja Puniani lives in Sukna near Siliguri in Darjeeling district.
A poet who loves expressing himself in Nepali, English, Hindi, and Bengali, Rajaa's Nepali series of poetry 'Arko Lashkar' (The Other Journey) was published by Manavi Publications, Kalimpong, in 2013. His eco-poetry ' Tale of a Numb Planet' is taught as reference material in the Climate Change curriculum at The Copenhagen Business School, Hillerod Dept, Denmark. He has also started 'Multimedia Poetry,' a new 'performance poetry' form (available on YouTube). His latest anthology of Nepali eco- poetry 'Tangsing' has been published by Sambodhan Publication, Siliguri.
Nimu Rai, the Assistant Professor, Department of English, Surya Sen College, and Puja Mahajan, SALT, English, are the joint conveners for the April-30 workshop.
