West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is likely to review the schedule of the Class XII board examination, to be held offline from April 2, in a bid to avoid a possible clash with dates of other medical and engineering entrance tests, a senior official of WBCHSE, a body that monitors higher secondary education in the state, has said.
WBCHSE president Chiranjib Bhattacharya said that many higher secondary students sit for joint entrance exams conducted at the national level, and the council is, therefore, contemplating changing the schedule of the board exams.
"Nothing has been finalised yet. We will explore and evaluate these factors and pass on the recommendations to the state government. The final call is likely next week,” he said.
Bhattacharya, however, assured that any change in dates of the Class XII board examination will not be taken in haste.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) had earlier announced to conduct the Class XII board exams from April 2 to April 20. On the other hand, the Class X board exams will start on March 7 and end on March 16.
Class XII students, mostly those studying science, appear for different engineering and medical entrance examinations that are held across the country for admissions in colleges. Some private colleges also hold separate entrance examinations for different courses.
