In polls, BJP (Hills) to go with `like-minded' parties

SNS, KURSEONG, 1 FEBRUARY 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (Hills) has planned to jointly contest the upcoming municipal elections in the hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong with "like-minded parties and individuals"
According to the president of the BJP's Kurseong Mandal Committee, Madan Jogi, an important meeting was held under the BJP's senior Hill leadership led by BJP, Darjeeling District (Vice-president, LM Lama, in Ward No 1 in Kurseong town today.
Representatives and leaders of the MP from Kurseong and Mirik municipality areas attended the meeting, it is learnt.
Mr Jogi said in a press statement later that keeping in mind the interests and development of the Hill people, they decided in the meeting that the party would "give preference to candidates who have social views and thoughts and experience."
"In today's meeting, we made plans to participate in the Hill municipality elections with like-minded parties and individuals," Mr Jogi said.
