Boy killed as speeding vehicle hits two-wheeler on NH 10

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, 4 FEBRURY 2022: Ananda Baraili, a 21-year-old youth from Kalimpong Kasyong, was killed on Friday morning when his two-wheeler was hit by a speeding vehicle from the opposite direction at 11 Mile near Tarkhola on National Highway 10.
Ananda’’s uncle Santosh Baraili said Andanda was learning to ride in the railway project when the vehicle from the opposite direction going to duty hit him.
Another uncle of the deceased Dawa Lepcha said, however, his nephew had told him in injured condition that a loaded truck had hit him and fled. Lepcha regretted the reckless way vehicles were driven on the highway.
“Vehicles, especially loaded vehicles, are moving recklessly. There is no speed control device on the highway. The police should take note of this,” he said.
The police said they were trying to identify the vehicle involved in the incident through CCTV cameras.
