1 killed, 2 injured as vehicle crashes into bus on NH 10
YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, FEBRUARY 10: A driver was killed and two others were injured when a vehicle collided with a bus on National Highway 10 in Kalijora on Thursday morning.
The bus heading from Siliguri to Sikkim and the Tata vehicle heading towards Silgadhi collided at around 11:30 am o near 27th mile.
The injured were identified as Roshan Tamang, 33, of Rorathang, the jumbo Tata driver, Ranjit Tamang, handy boy of the Tata vehicle, and bus driver Prakash Chhetri, 33, of Mangjim, south Sikkim.
All were taken to nearby Rambi Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Tata vehicle Roshan Tamang succumbed to his injuries.
The other two were undergoing treatment at the hospital. At the time of the accident, Tata driver Roshan Tamang got stuck in the driver's seat, leading to a serious injury. Some of the bus passengers sustained minor injuries.
According to the bus driver, the Tata vehicle came at high speed and collided with the bus. Riang police rushed to the spot and, with the help of locals and drivers, the Tata driver was rescued and sent to the hospital. But driver Roshan Tamang could not survive.
