KalimNews, Kalimpong, 7 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:

Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
19 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV)  are admitted in paediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs, None of them is suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) and referred from Islampur. 30 (no one suffering from ARI) are released today after recovery. 
Presently 16 Children patients are being treated. 

5 child died:
In the NBMCH, 5 child died of other ailments.

168 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out of 575 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 168 tested positive.
 
104 in SMC:
104 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (85 in Darjeeling and 19 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 
 
238 in Darjeeling district:
238 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 85 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 
41 of the Hills (15 in Darjeeling Municipality, 11 in Kurseong Municipality, 5 in Mirik, 2 in Bijanbari, 8 in Sukhiapokhari, 0 in Takdah)
112 of the plains (5 in Khoribari, 65 in Matigara, 29 in Naxalbari, 13 in Phansidewa, 0 in Sukuna) also test positive.

21 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 21 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 15 patients, 12 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 3 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 
There are 3 patient in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 2 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 1 in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and none in HDU (Trauma care centre) and surgical isolation ward.
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

10 Discharged:
10 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
