KalimNews, Kalimpong, 5 January 2022: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:

37 of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital tested positive: 28 Medical (MBBS 1st and 2nd yr) students, 7 nurses 2 health (house) staff of NBMCH 

2 died
Dipal Kumar Barua, 65 yr old of Gayerkatta Banarhat (Jalpaiguri district) died today in the Covid Block of NBMCH. 
Papai Dutta Majumdar, 39 yr old of Mahakalpalli, Siliguri  died today in the Covid Block of NBMCH. 

Paediatric Ward of NBMCH
26 new children suspected to be infected by Respiratory Syncytial virus (RSV)  are admitted in paediatric ward of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) during the last 24 hrs, None of them is suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) and none are referred patients. 17 (no one suffering from ARI) are released today after recovery. 
Presently 15 Children patients suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) are admitted and being treated. 

1 child died:
In the NBMCH, 1 child died.

138 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH
Out 636 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 524 from Darjeeling, 112 from Kalimpong, 138 tested positive.
 
106 in SMC:
96 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (96 in Darjeeling and 10 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 
 
165 in Darjeeling district:
165 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 96 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 
6 of the Hills (1 in Darjeeling Municipality, 3 in Kurseong Municipality, 0 in Mirik, 1 in Bijanbari, 1 in Sukhiapokhari, 0 in Takdah)
63 of the plains (1 in Khoribari, 47 in Matigara, 9 in Naxalbari, 4 in Phansidewa, 2 in Sukuna) also test positive.

12 admitted:
In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 12 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 10 patients, 7 admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I, and 3 in the Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 
There is 1 patient in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 1 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III),and none in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and in HDU (Trauma care centre) and surgical isolation ward.
During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).
