Rescuers find body of missing man in Darjeeling

SNS, 23 Oct 21, Darjeeling: Followhg a search operation for three days for 59-year-old security guard Suntan Thapa, his body parts were finally visible in the landslide rubble he was buried in at the SDO bungalow in Darjeeling town on 19 October.
Darjeeling SDO Dulen Roy said the body was seen today but that rescuers could not recover it as the retaining wall had fallen on top of it.
Mr Dulen Roy said on Friday that the recovery work would start early Saturday morning.
Thapa's villagers, however, opposed the decision to stop the work for Friday and wanted the body to be pulled out immediately.
Two teams of the NDRF have been carrying out the search operations, along with others.
