1 dies, 40 in Darj, 4 in Darj Hills, 8 in Plains, 34 in SMC tests positive, 11 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 332 samples- 22 tests positive, 39 recovered from Covid-19.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 7 October 2021: Reports received from Darjeeling district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing, and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours are as follows:

1 died

Sukumar Dasgupta, 82 yr old of Subhaspalli Siliguri died today in a Private Nursing Home at Sevoke Road Siliguri.

Paediatric Ward of NBMCH

45 new children are admitted in paediatric ward during the last 24 hrs, of which 10 are suffering from ARI (Acute respiratory Illness) and 8 are referred patients from other hospitals. 

2 children died

No child at NBMCH died of ARI while 2 of 8 month and 2 month of Coochbehar and Alipurduar respectively died of congenital heart disease and cyanotic heart diseases.

22 tested positive: Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH

Out of 332 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests - 287 from Darjeeling, 45 from Kalimpong, 22 tested positive 

of which 3 tested positive in repeat test. 

 

34 in SMC:

34 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (28 in Darjeeling and 6 Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

 

40 in Darjeeling district:

40 positive cases were reported in the district of Darjeeling, while 28 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

4 of the Hills (0 in Darjeeling Municipality, 1 in Kurseong Municipality, 0 in Mirik, 1 in Bijanbari, 2 in Sukhiapokhari, 0 in Takdah)

8 of the plains (0 in Khoribari, 4 in Matigara, 2 in Naxalbari, 0 in Phansidewa, 2 in Sukuna) also test positive.

Dr. Rudra nath Bhattacharya, Chairman of Rogi Kalyan Samity of Siliguri and former MLA tested positive. Though he has taken both doses of the vaccination he tested positive for the second time. He is admitted in RICU ward.

11 admitted:

In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 11 patients are being treated for Covid-19 and suspected Covid-19 infection in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block, there are 9 patients of which 6 are admitted to the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 3 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 

There is 1 child patient in the Pediatric Covid Block of NBMCH, and 1 in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward but no patients in the Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III), and none in HDU (Trauma care centre) and surgical isolation ward.

During the last 24 hours, no serious patients are being treated in the two Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH).

39 Discharged:

39 patients have been released from Covid hospitals including home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
