Binoy Tamang demands judicial inquiry into GTA

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, AUGUST 27, 21:  Former Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Binoy Tamang will soon turn his promised third chapter into a political platform and this chapter will address various issues of Terai-Dooars including Darjeeling hills.
Tamang told this to reporters at a hotel in Kalimpong on Friday.
He said presently work was being done for the third chapter materialize. The purpose of the third chapter was to chart out an independent course for him; nowhere in the third chapter of his political journey he would have merger with either of the other two top GJM leaders from the hills, Bimal Gurung and Anit Thapa.
Tamang said: 'I have handed over the party's flag to GJM president Bimal Gurung. After handing over the flag, there was no point in going to the same party again and I do not see any possibility of merging with Anit Thapa because they have conspired against me a lot.”
He alleged during the day that he had resigned from the party after many conspiracies being hatched against him while he was in the party.
He said:“It was my mistake to give Gorkhaland Territorial Administration chairmanship to Anit Thapa, thinking him as my brother.  After getting the GTA chair, Anit Thapa started conspiring against me. Anit Thapa says one thing and does another.”
Giving more details, Tamang said: “The MLAs candidate I chose in the Assembly elections were former SUMI principal Navratna Pradhan from Kalimpong, Amar Singh Rai from Darjeeling and Rohit Sharma from Kurseong. But the names of all of them were cancelled by Anit Thapa.
Now I am also being blamed for the defeat in the Assembly elections. There are many things. In my address to various public meetings since January, I have been giving hints about the conspiracy against me.”
Regarding the new party that Anit Thapa was going to launch on September 9, he said:“I would like to congratulate Anit Thapa and his colleagues. I expect the party to be free of corruption.”
He also demanded that the West Bengal government conduct a judicial inquiry into the GTA as there were allegations of corruption in the GTA.
“I have been the GTA chairman for 18 months, even if I have committed corruption, I should be punished.” He alleged that apart from the GTA, there was a lot of corruption in Central schemes as well as in private sectors.
Tamang added that the main reason for his visit to Kalimpong was to welcome and meet  many young activists, including Gayatri Mukhiya and Shankhamani Rai who supported the third chapter.
Many people today support the third chapter. They were welcomed by Binoy Tamang.
