KalimNews and agencies 27 May 21: To break the chain of transmission and reduce the load on the medical infrastructure as the second wave of COVID-19 wreaks havoc across the nation, state governments have opted for statewide lockdowns and some have induced lockdown-like strict curbs on the movement of people.
Here’s a list of the states to impose lockdown or covid restrictions

West Bengal
The West Bengal government extended the ongoing restriction (partial lockdown) to 15 June. It was the latest state to go under a lockdown, imposing curbs till 6 pm on May 30.On 16 May it joined other states that have imposed a complete lockdown to contain the COVID pandemic. The lockdown in effect from 16 May and was to be continued till 30 May. It also imposed a night curfew, from 9 pm to 5 am. 
All exemption relaxation and  are to be continued as before. HS and Madhyamik examination will be held. HS Exams during last week of July and Madhyamik Pariksha during 2nd week of August and only for the main subjects for 1.5 hr.
On April 30 it had imposed extensive curbs including ban on all kinds of gatherings. All shopping malls, beauty parlours, cinema halls, restaurants, bars, sports complexes, gyms, spas, swimming pools to close until further notice. The markets will remain open from 7 am to 10 am and 3 pm to 5 pm.

Sikkim
Complete lockdown is extended to 31 May that has been imposed in the Himalayan state of Sikkim from May 17 to May 24 .Lockdown-like restrictions have been imposed in Sikkim as well from May 6, 2021 till May 16. All borders of the state were sealed. 

Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu government has extended the complete lockdown in the state, to May 31, It was in force from May 10 to May 24, amid an unprecedented rise in Covid-19 cases. 
Chief Minister M K Stalin said in a statement that the lockdown was being enforced due to “unavoidable reasons” and pointed out that the decision was taken based on inputs received at a review meeting he had with district collectors besides consultations with medical experts.

Karnataka
To break the chain of Covid transmission in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced a full lockdown in the state from May 10 to May 24 which is extended till June 7.
On May 4, the government had imposed a ‘close down’ across the state till May 12, despite which the number of Covid cases and fatalities continued to rise. The state has been recording over 45,000 daily cases in the last week.

Kerala
Kerala Govt has extended the ongoing lockdown till May 30, it was supposed to end on May 23 that started from May 16.It has also imposed a triple lockdown in four districts -- Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram. 
A day after Kerala reported a record 41,953 infections, the state government announced a full lockdown in the state from May 8 to 16. The state’s earlier restrictions — preventing unnecessary travel and reducing attendance in offices– had failed to reduce its caseload. Kerala’s active cases with over 3.75 lakh are the third highest in the country. 

Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government extended a strict lockdown to 5 am of June 8 which started from May 10 that ended on May 24 and extended thereafter.

Maharashtra
Maharashtra’s lockdown-like restrictions have been extended till 7 am on June 1. As the second wave of Covid-19 recedes, the Maharashtra government is preparing to ease the state-wide lockdown in a phased manner owing to the decline in Covid cases and positivity rate in the state. Due to fears of a third wave in the state, restrictions will not be completely lifted, but there is scope for some relaxation.
Maharashtra had imposed lockdown-like curbs on April 5 coupled with prohibitory orders and restrictions on the movement of people. The curbs have been extended till May 15.
After reporting a massive uptick in new cases at the beginning of Covid’s second wave, the state has now been reporting a decline with new cases further dropping.

Gujarat
The night restrictions on people's movement in the state of Gujrat will be effective from 9 pm to 6 am in 36 cities. Currently, the night curfew is being enforced from 8 pm to 6 am. There was no complete lockdown Gujarat government, extended the lockdown in major cities till May 12. The lockdown was supposed to end on May 5.Earlier Gujarat had imposed a night curfew in 36 cities till 18 May, besides other restrictions on movement and gathering at public places.

Goa
The Goa state government has extended the ongoing curfew in the state till May 31. This move comes in the wake of widespread Coronavirus cases across the country. The first curfew which was enforced in the state on May 9, has now been extended for the second time, i.e., from May 23 to till the month end.

Telangana
The state-wide lockdown to check spread of Covid-19 was imposed on May 12 with a four hour relaxation from 6 AM to 10 AM and on May 18 it decided to extend the lockdown till May 30. Telangana government is planning to extend the lockdown in the state till June 7.Telangana has extended the imposed night curfew between 9 pm and 5 am from 12 May till 22 May. It was started on May 1, later extended till 5 am on May 15.
Telangana reported 5,559 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to over 4.87 lakh, while the toll stood at 2,666 with 41 more casualties.

Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh extended the curfew till May 31. Earlier it had announced a partial curfew from 12 noon to 6 am from May 6 for two weeks. The state had earlier imposed a night curfew.
The state government on Friday also curtailed working hours with all employees working in the government department will now work from 8 AM to 11.30 AM as the curfew begins at noon. The curfew would be in force till at least May 18 as per the government’s preliminary order.

Madhya Pradesh
Corona curfew in the Madhya Pradesh has been extended till 6 a.m. of June 1 from May 24,  in Bhopal district to protect the citizens from the surge in COVID-19 infections and keeping in view the general health in the public interest. The lockdown-like restrictions, referred to as ‘Janata Curfew’ by the state government, are currently in force in all 52 districts of the state till May 31 in a majority of the districts, including the state capital of Bhopal. The state will begin the unlocking process from June 1. .

Jammu and Kashmir
In the wake of the rising cases of coronavirus, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday extended corona curfew across 20 districts till May 31. The Jammu and Kashmir administration extended the curfew in force since April 29, till May 24 across all 20 districts. It had extended the lockdown in four districts of Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam and Jammu districts till May 6. Night curfew will continue in all municipal/urban local body limits of all 20 districts.

Uttarakhand
The lockdown-like restrictions imposed across Uttarakhand to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases have been extended till June 1, 2021. On May 28, the public will be free to travel. The Uttarakhand government had imposed 'COVID curfew' in the state from 6 am on May 11 to 6 am on May 18, during which only essential services were allowed. The state government had already imposed 'corona curfew' in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts till May 10 to control the surge. 

Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh Government extended the partial coronavirus curfew till 7 am of 31 May which was currently enforced till 24 May. Earlier it had extended Covid-19 restrictions across the state till 7 am on May 10 and extended it to May 17. This comes weeks after it obtained from the Supreme Court a stay on an Allahabad High Court order to impose a weeklong lockdown in five districts.

Himachal Pradesh
The Himachal Pradesh government has extended the curfew to break the chain of the coronavirus in the state till May 31. The COVID curfew had earlier been imposed in Himachal till May 26. The state is under a lockdown from May 7 to May 17.

Delhi
Lockdown in the national Capital is extended till May 31. It might soon decide to initiate the unlocking process from June 1, 2021.Delhi has been under a lockdown since April 20 with several exemptions, which included weddings with up to 50 attendees. This exemption has been further restricted to weddings only inside homes or at courts with no more than 20 people present. Delhi government had been forced to impose lockdown amid a steep rise in COVID-19 cases on April 20. It has been extended weekly for the fourth time till May 24 morning. It was scheduled to end at 5 am on May 17.

Punjab
The Punjab government has ordered further extension of all existing restrictions due to coronavirus outbreak till June 10. Earlier the Punjab government decided to continue with all existing COVID restrictions in the state till May 31 amid a continuous rise in positivity rate in the state. Punjab has imposed extensive covid-19 curbs, in addition to measures like a weekend lockdown and a night curfew which was in force till May 15.

Chandigarh
The UT Administration of Chandigarh has decided to continue with the weekend curfew in the city from 6 pm on May 28 to 5 am on May 31 Earlier Chandigarh imposed weekend curfew restrictions till May 25. It allowed all shops to reopen for a few hours on weekdays. However, the daily night curfew (6 pm to 5 am) and weekend curfew will continue in the city. The weekend curfew from 6 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday will continue. During the weekend curfew, only essential commodity shops will be allowed to open.

Puducherry
The prevailing lockdown- Curfew with existing practical relaxations has been extended till May 31 in the Union Territory. Puducherry Government announced a complete lockdown into effect from May 10 midnight. 

Haryana
Haryana extended the lockdown from 24 May till May 31.Haryana was under a seven-day long lockdown from May 3. The lockdown was extended for extended four times in nine districts.

Jharkhand
The partial lockdown imposed in Jharkhand since April 22 had been extended till 6 am of June 3, last time. Earlier the restrictions were in place till 27 May with some additional restrictions. Jharkhand was under Covid-19 lockdown-like restrictions from April 22 till May 6 and later extended till May 13.

Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh has extended the COVID-19 lockdown till May 31, it was set to end in most regions at May 15 midnight. Chhattisgarh has allowed district collectors to extend lockdown.

Bihar
Bihar Govt has extended the lockdown to 1 June from 25 May for the third time. It was started on 5 May and supposed to end on 15 May. The announcement on May 4, by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, came within hours of the Patna High Court ordered the government to declare a lockdown, warning that otherwise the court may step in. It extended from 15 May to 25 May.

Odisha
Amid rising cases, Odisha government has extended the lockdown till 5 am of June 1. Earlier a 14-day lockdown has been imposed in the entire state from May 5 till May 19 and it was extended till May 24.

Assam
The Assam government extended the COVID-19 curfew from May 31 to June 5. The curfew in urban areas from 12 pm would continue till June 5 while it will come into force from 2 pm instead of 5 pm in rural areas of the state. Assam government announced further restrictions from 16 May in urban and its adjacent areas, upto five km of its periphery, banning movement of people and vehicles from 12 noon to 5 am to contain the surge in COVID-19 positive cases. Assam advanced its night curfew to 6 pm from the current 8 pm with restrictions imposed on the movement of people at public places from May 5.

Nagaland
Nagaland has extended the existing statewide lockdown with existing SOPs till May 31. It clamped down total lockdown in the state from 6 pm of May 14 till May 21 and later extended it.

Mizoram
The Mizoram government extended the current lockdown in Aizawl and other district headquarters for another seven days to May 31. The existing lockdown imposed since May 10 was scheduled to be lifted at 4 am on May 24.The total lockdown imposed in Aizawl and other district headquarters from May 10 has been extended for another 7 days to flatten the COVID-19 transmission curve. 

Arunachal Pradesh 
Arunachal Pradesh has imposed complete lockdown in Anjaw, Dibang Valley, Lower Subansiri, Lohit and Tawang districts and the Capital Complex Region till May 31.

Manipur 
Manipur government has imposed curfew in seven districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur till May 28.

Meghalaya 
Meghalaya extended lockdown in the worst-affected East Khasi Hills district till May 31.

Tripura
The Tripura government on Tuesday extended the COVID-19 curfew in the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas till June 5. It had imposed a night curfew from May 19 till May 26
