5 die of Covid : Record 466 in Darj, 25 in Darj Hills, 188 in Plains, 359 in SMC test positive, 139 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 1714 tests done 523 test positive, 216 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 May 2021: Reports received and collected regarding testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

5 Death:

Uttam Sharma, 46 yr old of Sahudangi Hat Jalpaiguguri died today in Male Medical 1 Ward of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Aloke Chakraborty, 58 yr old of Pradhan Nagar Siliguri died today in HDU of Covid Ward II of NBMCH. 

Gopal Singha, 81 yr old of Pradhan Nagar Siliguri died today in HDU of Covid Ward II of NBMCH. 

Uttam Pal, 54 yr old of Rabindra Sarani Siliguri died today in HDU of Covid Ward II of NBMCH. 

Bina Rai, 72 yr old of Jhankarmore Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH

Total number of swab samples received for Reverse Transcription (RTPCR) Tests from the districts of Darjeeling- 883, Kalimpong- 125, Jalpaiguri– 342, Alipurduar- 364 is 1714.Of these 523 samples test positive. 

359 in SMC:

359 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (253 in Darjeeling and 106 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

466 in Darjeeling district:

Record 466 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 253 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

25 cases reported from the Darjeeling Hills (7 in Darjeeling Municipality, 12 in Kurseong Municipality, 4 in Bijanbari, 1 in Sukhiapokhari, 1 in Takdah ).

188 of the plains (101 in Matigara, 40 in Naxalbari, 14 in Khoribari, 21 in Phansidewa, 12 in Sukuna) also test positive.

139 patients in NBMCH:

139 patients are being treated for Covid- 19 and suspected Covid- 19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Out of this 54 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 33 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 38 in Covid Block III (Female Medicine)

During the last 24 hours 14 patients are admitted in the Isolation Wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 6 patients in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 7 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and 1 in Isolation ward -1, but no patients in surgical isolation ward. 

216 Discharged:

216 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
