10 die of Covid : 498 in Darj, 93 in Darj Hills, 198 in Plains, 265 in SMC test positive, 137 admitted in Covid Block of NBMCH

Out of 1820 tests done 744 test positive, 323 recovered from Covid-19. 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 23 May 2021: Reports received from district administration and collected from other sources regarding death, new cases, recovery, testing and treatment of Covid patients in the different Hospitals of North Bengal including Darjeeling district and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration during the last 24 hours is as follows:

Damayanti Singh Sarki, 60 yr old of Champasari Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Champa Rajak, 65 yr old of Hochimin Nagar Bagdogra died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Bula Dasgupta, 64 yr old of Champasari Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Shankar Lama, 66 yr old of Kadamtala Matigara Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Arati Acharya, 74 yr old of Mahanandapara Siliguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH. 

Ganeshi Devi, 77 yr old of Dabgram Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH

Pradip Chowdhary, 55 yr old of Mohitnagar Jalpaiguri died today in CCU of Covid Ward of NBMCH.

744 tested positive Test report received from Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at NBMCH

1820 swab samples received for Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Tests in the districts of Darjeeling- 961, Kalimpong- 156, Jalpaiguri– 423, Alipurduar- 280. Of these 744 samples test positive.

265 in SMC:

265 of Siliguri Municipality Corporation (207 in Darjeeling and 55 in Jalpaiguri districts) test positive. 

498 in Darjeeling district:

498 positive cases reported in the district of Darjeeling, of which 207 are from the area of Darjeeling district of the SMC. 

93 cases reported from the Darjeeling Hills (10 in Darjeeling Municipality, 14 in Kurseong Municipality, 39 in Mirik, 14 in Bijanbari, 13 in Sukhiapokhari, 3 in Takdah,).

198 of the plains (105 in Matigara, 22 in Naxalbari, 24 in Khoribari, 31 in Phansidewa, 16 in Sukuna) also test positive.

137 patients in NBMCH: (214 beds)

In the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, 137 patients are being treated for Covid- 19 and suspected Covid- 19 infection in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. In the Covid block there are 127 patients of which 54 are admitted in the CCU unit of the Covid Block I and 31 in Covid Block II (Chest & Cardiac Unit) of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), 28 in Covid Block III (Female Medicine II) and 14 in HDU (Trauma care centre). 

In addition to this during the last 24 hours, 13 serious patients are being treated in the four Isolation wards of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). There are 3 patients in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) ward, 10 in Gynecological Maternity Isolation ward (ID III) and no patient in Isolation ward -1 and in surgical isolation ward. 

New Pediatric Covid Block is opened in NBMCH with 14 beds for children.

372 Discharged:

372 patients have been released from Covid hospitals that also includes home isolation patients but excluding patients in private hospitals and army establishments.
