When Mr Gurung was with the BJP he was a terrorist, as per the TMC and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Now, what is Miss Banerjee's stand on Bimal Gurung and the reason behind her joining hands with him?
SNS, SILIGURI, 28 NOVEMBER 20 : BJP National Spokesperson Raju Bista today said that anyone can conduct their political activities and organizational meetings and that even Gorkha leader Bimal Gurung can do the same in Darjeeling.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Bista, who is also the MP from the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency, said: "In a democracy, everyone has the right to conduct political activities and organisational work. Even Bimal Gurung can do his political and organizational work. But whether peace will be disturbed in Darjeeling that is the state subject. It is the state government's responsibility to maintain peace in Darjeeling."
Mr Bista, who is in Darjeeling Hills presently, also said: "When Mr Gurung was with the BJP he was a terrorist, as per the TMC and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Now, what is Miss Banerjee's stand on Bimal Gurung and the reason behind her joining hands with him? The chief minister will have to explain this."
Reacting to Trinamul Congress leaders' "indecorous words" against West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, Mr Bista said that the TMC led state government has kept the Constitution in a "ventilator." "The Governor is trying hard to free it from the ventilator," he said.
"Not only that, there are some 'unruly' guys associated with the TMC led government. The Governor has been working constitutionally just to teach them a good lesson," Mr Bista added.
According to him, the Governor is working in the right direction so that the Assembly elections can be conducted in a free and fair manner.
