Secretariat level meet for Hills today

SNS, DARJEELING, 18 NOVEMBER 2020 : A secretariat-level meeting will be held in Kolkata tomorrow where different issues related to the cinchona plantation will be discussed, according to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Chairman, Anit Thapa.

According to Mr Thapa, there are different issues related to cinchona plantation like its promotion and regularization of workers, for which a meeting has been called in Kolkata." This meeting is a result of the meeting we held with the Bengal chief minister on 3 November, where among the different issues, we also discussed problems related to cinchona," Mr Thapa said in a release.

According to him, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had given them positive assurances on the different issues. "Like the tea industry, the cinchona industry is also a popular industry with its rich history and past. In this unpredictable political scenario, we are working towards bringing its old glory back," he said, while also thanking the state government and the CM for taking steps for the industry.
