21 (19) died of Covid -19 in Kalimpong
The health ministry's data confirms that people who have underlying health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure or cancer are at greater risk of dying due to COVID-19.
The state record and bulletin states that till to date 19 people have died of COVID-19. Some positive patients even tested negative during the time of their death, when tested after their death and their numbers are not included in it.
In Kalimpong the minimum age group of dead COVID patients belongs to 44-45 years, while most of the death cases are of above 50 years. There were 3 deaths of 44-45 age group, while 8 were from 50 -59, 7 from 60-69 and 5 from 70-75. Death due to the virus recorded in our North Bengal region reflects that death of infants and youth of 12-20 years as well as below 35 are also not less than 20 percent.
The first
Covid death was of Sunita Devi (44yr) of Kalimpong Town. She was admitted on
26th March at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital and on 28th she
tested positive to Covid 19 and died on 30th March during her treatment. Her death was the
first death of North Bengal too that panicked the entire area.
The second
death was of Umamati Devi (55 yr) of Sombaray Bazar Gorubathan who died
on 13 July. Narmaya Biswakarma (73 yr) of Teesta, the third
patient to die of Covid-19 died on 19 August and her test result of positive
declaration came only after her death and cremation.
The fourth
death was of Joseph Dahal (53 yr) of 6th Mile who died on 21
August while the fifth patient, Ghanashyam Basur (64 yr) of Harijan Road
died on 23 August.
The sixth
victim Anugrah Lepcha, 50 yr of Thakurbari who was admitted at District
hospital Kalimpong and was referred to Siliguri but died on the way to hospital
on 11 September 2020. She had tested Covid positive and had heart related
ailment.
Rabin Rai,
70 yr of Bagdhara, admitted on 19 September in Desun Covid Hospital died
on 21 Sept. His death was seventh of the district.
Jay Prakash
Gupta, 44 yr of Ongden Road and Punya Prasad Rai, 51 yr of 10th Mile Kalimpong
died in NBMCH on 22 Sep at Dr. Chhang’s Covid Hospital and they were
the 8th and 9th victims.
Bina
Tamang, 69 yr old of Dhajay Bhalukhop died on 24.09.20 in Tribeni
Covid Hospital (brought dead).
Her death was 10th of the district.
The 11th
death was of Ashok Khati, 55 yr old of Murgihatta Ward no 11. He died on 8th
October at Dr. Chhang’s Covid Hospital.
Mita Das, 45 year old of
Kalimpong died on 16th October in Dr. Chhang’s Covid Hospital and her
death is recorded as 12th death of the district.
Rohit
Golyan, 74 yr old of Kalimpong died in Dr.Chhang’s SS Covid
Hospital. His death is 13th of the district.
14th death was
of Chhewang Dorjay Tamang, 75 yr old of 29 Mile Rambhi Tista Bazar transferred
from Tribeni Hospital died on 24th October in Desun Covid Hospital
David Tiruwa, 65 yr old of
Kalimpong died on 24th October in a Nursing Home at Sevoke Road. His
death is 15th death of the district.
16th
death recorded in Kalimpong was of Aitasing Tamang, 71 yr old of Lower Singbong
Pedong who died on 26th October in Dr.Chhang’s SS Covid Hospital.
Chatursing
Rai, 60 yr old of Pabak Busty Kagay Kalimpong died on 26th Oct
in Dr. Chhang’s SS Covid Hospital. His death was 17th.
18th
death was of Mamita Mangar, 50 yr old of Samalbong Kalimpong died in
(admitted on 22nd Oct) Desun Covid Hospital.
Shanta
Tamang, 54 yr old of Sindebong Kalimpong; and Bir Bahadur Rai, 58 yr
old of Maurey Fari Kumai (referred from Tribeni Covid Hospital) died in Desun
Covid Hospital on
5th November in Desun Covid Hospital and their death were
recorded as 19th and 20th death respectively.
Dhan Kumar Pradhan, 68 yr old of Mal Busty Gorubathan
-Kalimpong died on 11 November in Dr.Chhang’s SS Covid Hospital.His death was 21st.
Gopal Chhetri, 68 yr old of Tista Bazar and Gopal Sharma,
69 yr old of Upper Bong Busty Kalimpong (Admitted on 9th November
from Tribeni Covid Hospital) died in Dr.Chhang’s SS Covid Hospital. Their death
are regarded as 22nd and 23rd death.
