Two die in Siliguri, 109 cases in Darj dist
Darjeeling district report- 53 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, 75 patients discharged
SNS, SILIGURI, 6 OCTOBER 2020: Two persons died in the designated hospital for Covid patients at Matigara in the past 24 hours, sources said.
A 60-year-old resident of Phansidewa died there last evening. The sources said she had pneumonia with diabetes mellitus and hypertension. A 74-year-old person of Darjeeling also died there last evening.
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district recorded 109 Covid- 19 cases today. The fresh cases included 53 in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), five in Kharibari, one in Kurseong Municipality, five in Sukna, 17 in Matigara, one in Mirik, 19 in Naxalbari, seven in Phansidewa, and one in Sukhia Pokhari, sources said.
Nine cases were also detected in the SMC's Jalpaiguri portion. Also today, 75 patients were either discharged from hospitals or they ended their home isolation period,sources said.
Malda spike continues
The spike in Malda continued for the second consecutive day today, with 100 fresh cases detected across the district. While 75 samples tested positive in RT-PCR tests conducted at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital last night, 25 more were detected through rapid antigen tests, sources said.
This time around, the English Bazaar Municipality area had 31 cases, while Bamongola had 19. The remaining cases were spread across the district, while Kaliachak -II had only two cases.
