Sikkim update- 2 fresh deaths- tally 62


KalimNews, Gangtok, 19th October : Two more COVID-19 deaths have been recorded iin the Himalayan state of Sikkim today and the death toll counts to 62.

As per the health bulletin of the state a 60 year old male, resident of Chumbung, West Sikkim passed away at around 8:30 am on 18th October. He was admitted to the STNM hospital on 5th October and was suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other ailments.

The second death was reported from a 60 year old male from Tathangchen. He was admitted to the hospital on 6th October after testing positive of COVID-19. He passed away in ICU at around 6 am this morning.

On Rapid Antigen Testing 4 people tested positive and they are 3 from East district and one from West district. They are one each residing near Paljor Stadiumm, Pakyong Chalamthang, Namcheybong Pakyong and Middle Tikpur Sombaria.

On this day there are 3601 confirmed cases  while 3195 patients recovered from the infection 263 are still active and are under treatment. 3 of the patients are in ICU while 11 were discharged today.

As per the data received,  treatment of the disease is done at STNM DCHC hospital , Ayush Hospital Gyalshing and aymptomatic patients are isolated in more than 22 quarantine facilities and paid quarantine centres. In the beginning till 28 May 2020 all tests were done at NBMCH but presently RT-PCR Test is being done at STNM Hospital. So far 54310 tests have been conducted in the state.
