
Five die in Siliguri; two in Alipurduar

SNS, SILIGURI, 2 OCTOBER 2020 : Five persons died in two designated hospitals for Covid-19 patients in Siliguri in the past 24 hours, sources said.
While three died at the Desun Hospital at Kawakhali, two others died in Dr Chhang's Hospital at Matigara.
An 81-year-old resident of Darjeeling Hills admitted on 28 September died in Kawakhali today, and sources said he had been referred from another dedicated hospital in the Hills at Tribeni. A 39-year-old from Malbazaar in Jalpaiguri district also died at the hospital. He had been admitted there on 29 September.
A 38-year-old resident of Cooch Behar district, who was admitted on 30 September, also died here.
A 55-year-old resident of Lodhama in Darjeeling district died at Dr Chhang's Hospital, along with a 35-year old from Jalpaiguri, who died last evening, sources said.
Two Covid patients have also died in Alipurduar in the past 24 hours, sources said. They added that a total of 74 persons were freshly tested positive for Covid-19 in the district.
Also, 54 Covid patients undergoing treatment tested negative for the virus today.
98 fresh cases in Malda
A day after MaIda reported over a hundred Covid-19 cases, the district today reported 98 fresh cases. A total of 78 samples among the 601 tested in the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) last night were positive, sources said.
The remaining 20 cases were detected through the rapid antigen test, they added.
English Bazaar Municipality had 25 cases, while Gazole had 18 and Habibpur 17.
"The rest of the cases were spread over other blocks across the district," a source said.
