Darjeeling District magistrate held a video conference over the preparedness with the administration and health department today


SNS, SILIGURI, 15 OCTOBER 2020: 58 year-old resident of Champasari in Siliguri died at the dedicated hospital for Covid -19 patients at Matigara here today, sources said.

A 59 year-old resident of Lake Town in Siliguri also died in another Covid hospital at Kawakhali here today.

Meanwhile, Darjeeling district chief medical officer of health Dr Pralay Acharya said comprehensive plans were in place to tackle any surge in the number of Covid cases during Durga Puja.

Darjeeling District magistrate S Ponnambalam held a video conference over the preparedness with the administration and health department today.

Dr Acharya said two safe homes-Batasi (Kharibari) and Limbutari (Phansidewa) had been kept on standby in the plains.

On the other hand, officer on special duty for Covid- 19 in north Bengal Dr Susanta Kumar Roy will chair a meeting with some community Durga Puja organisers of Siliguri at the state Guest House here tomorrow.

Officials of the Darjeeling district health department and the district administration are scheduled to be present in the meeting.
