
Two die in Siliguri

SNS, SILIGURI, 24 SEPTEMBER 2020: Two patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 died in two separate hospitals in Siliguri today. A 52-year-old resident of SukhiaPokhari in Darjeeling died at the dedicated hospital for Covid-19 patients at Kawakhali in Siliguritoday.
Sources added that another 65-year-old person from Alipurduar district died at Dr Chhang's (Covid) Hospital in Matigara today.
79 new Covid cases in Darjeeling district
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district recorded 79 new Covid cases today, sources said. Twenty-seven cases are from Siliguri Municipal Corponition, two from Darjeeling Municipality, four from Kharibari, three each from Kurseong Municipality, Mirik, Sukna, and Pulbazaar/Bijanbari, one in Sukhia Pokhari, 17 in Matigara, and 13 in Naxalbari.
Also today, 48 patients were either released front hospitals or they ended home isolation, sources said. They added that 13 new cases were detected in SMC areas under Jalpaiguri district.
47 in Malda
Malda detected 47 new cases of the novel coronavirus in tests conducted at the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital as well as through rapid antigen tests, sources said.
Among the fresh cases, 11 are from areas under the English Bazaar Municipality, while the remaining are from other blocks like Bamongola, Habibpur, Harishchandrapur I, and Gajole.
36 in Alipurduar
Thirty-six persons were tested positive for Covid-19 in Alipurduar in the past 24 hours, while there were no deaths of Covid patients today, sources said. A total of 79 other samples tested negative today, sources said.
