Two Covid patients die in Siliguri, one in A'duar- 65 in Malda
92 fresh cases in Darjeeling district , TMC leader dies
SNS, SILIGURI, 19 SEPTEMBER 2020: Two persons who had tested positive for Covid-19 died in Siliguri today. A 66-year-old resident of Darjeeling Hills died at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where sources said he had cardiorespiratory problems too. A 45-year-old resident of Bhaktinagar in Siliguri also died in the dedicated hospital at Kawakhali, sources said.
92 fresh cases in Darjeeling district
Meanwhile, Darjeeling district detected 92 fresh Covid cases today, including 47 in the Darjeeling portion of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, sources said. Four of the new cases are from Darjeeling Municipality, one in Kharibari, eight in Sukuna, 17 in Matigara, eight in Naxalbari, two in Phansidewa, three in Pul Bazaar Bijanbari, and two in Sukhia Pokhari, sources said. The Jalpaiguri portion of the SMC recorded 12 cases.
65 in Malda
Malda district reported 65 fresh cases of Covid- 19 among 777 samples it tested in the VRDL in the Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) through the RT-PCR method last night. Fourteen of the new cases were from Ratua -II, nine from Bamongola, eight from Habibpur, and seven each from Manikchak and English bazaar Municipality areas, sources said.
TMC leader dies
In Aiipurduar, a Trinamul Congress leader of the Kalchini block, Abbas Ansari, died in the Tapsikhata Covid hospital early morning today.
It is learnt that the leader was tested positive for the virus five days ago and was admitted in the hospital on the same day. It is learnt that Ansari was the Block Vice President of the ruling party for the Kalchini block.
On the other hand 102 persons were tested positive for Covid-19 in the district in the past 24 hours,sources said.
The tally of cases in the district has now gone up to 3433 as of today the sources added.
Dip in South Dinajpur
In South Dinajpur, officials claimed that the number of infections had gone down. As per a report of the district health department, only 27 new Covid patients were detected today and that the total number of patients has now gone up to 4730.Also, 34 patients were discharged after treatment today. The number of active patients in the district was 289 today. As per the records, the total number of tests as of yesterday was 69337, while the same was 70854 today.
NBMCH PWC meeting
The patient welfare committee of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital yesterday discussed a proposal to set up a 60-bed ENT ward faith modern facilities.
The chairman of the committee, Dr Rudranath Bhattacharya, said the building had been readied and few infrastructural developments were required.
