Heavy to very heavy rain due to a Low Pressure Area formed over Northeast Bay of Bengal under the influence of the tropical storm Noul
A Low Pressure Area has formed over Northeast Bay of Bengal and neighborhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west--northwest wards during next 2--3 days and become more marked over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood during next 24 hours.
KalimNews, Kalimpong , 20.09.2020, (IMD bulletin): Remnants of the tropical storm "Noul" which developed over the South China Sea this week, is likely to create a low pressure area over the north east Bay of Bengal on Sunday.
The Eastern end of monsoon trough now passes through Bareilly, Allahabad, Daltonganj, Puri and thence east--southeast wards to the center of low pressure area over northeast Bay of Bengal. The east-west shear zone roughly along Lat. 16°N across Peninsular India between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height across the cyclonic circulation associated with the above Low Pressure Area persists.
The cyclonic circulation over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked. The cyclonic circulation extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level over north interior Odisha & neighbourhood has become less marked.

Sunday 20 Sep (Day-1) 1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20) cm with extremely heavy rain (>20)cm likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha.
2)Heavy rain (7-11)cm likely to occur at one or two places over Jharkhand and North & South 24 Parganas, East & West Midnapore, Jhargram, Howrah, Bankura, Purulia districts of Gangetic West Bengal.
3) Thundersquall with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
4) Thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Jharkhand.
Monday 21 Sep (Day-2) 1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20) cm with extremely heavy rain (>20)cm likely to occur at one or two places over Odisha.
2) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20) cm likely to occur at one or two places over West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia districts of Gangetic West Bengal.
3)Heavy rain (7-11)cm likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong, Birbhum, East & West Burdwan, Murshidabad districts of West Bengal. 4) Thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at one or two places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
Tuesday 22 Sep (Day-3) 1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20) cm with extremely heavy rain (>20)cm likely to occur at one or two places over Alipurduar, Coochebhar, Darjeeling districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
2) Heavy to very heavy rain (7- 20) cm likely to occur at one or two places over Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
3) Heavy rain (7-11) cm likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim and Malda, North & South Dinajpur, Murshidababd, Birbhum districts of West Bengal.
Wednesday 23 Sep (Day-4) 1) Heavy to very heavy rain (7-20) cm likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar and Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
2) Heavy rain(7-11)cm likely to occur at one or two places over Sikkim and Malda, North & South Dinajpur districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
Thursday 24 Sep (Day-5) Heavy rain (7-11) cm likely to occur at one or two places over Bihar and Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
