Gurung camp, BJP leaders talk Hill issues
SNS, DARJEELING, 17 JULY 2020: The Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (Bimal Gurung faction) on Friday said its leaders met senior BJP leaders on Thursday and discussed the issue of granting tribal status for 11 Gorkha communities and a' permanent political solution' for areas that fall under the Gorkhaland Territorial Adminsitration in the Hills, Terai and the Dooars.
"The two issues have been mentioned in the BJP election manifesto and our delegation took up the same with the party's national president, JP Nadda, and national general secretary BL Santosh, asking them to fulfill the promises within this year," Morcha organizing secretary, Nima Tamang, said in a press release. "The BJP leaders told us that they were aware of these issues and that their party had been fulfilling whatever it had promised in its manifesto earlier. They said that the same was being delayed as the party had been taking decisions on other national issues. They also said they would fulfill their promises and give us justice," Mr Tamang added.
