Within 24 hrs. 72 found positive in 4 districts of North Bengal- 7 from Darjeeling- Quarantine record- In GTA area 83 (yesterday 69) in institutional and 3144 (yesterday 3111) in home quarantine.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 29 May 2020: 

72 people tested positive to Covid-19: Swab test result of 72 persons mostly in quarantine, resulted positive to Covid-19. Of the backlogs cleared today a large number tested positive. 32 of Coochbehar, 30 of Uttar Dinajpur, 7 of Darjeeling and 3 of Jalpaiguri districts were reported of having the virus infection.

Darjeeling hills was almost free of the virus for a period of more than 2 months but with the homecomings of the stranded persons it has become a matter of concern for all. 

4 patients of darjeeling district are from the hills while 3 are from the plains. 2 of Sonada returned from Lucknow and 2 of Kurseong are asymptomatic and were at quarantine centres.One patient is of 15 years.

Of the 3 from the plains of Darjeeling, one person belongs to Katiajote of Naxalbari while another is of Upper Bagdogra. They had been to Mumbai and Delhi and after their arrival in Siliguri were in a quarantine centre of Hatighisa.

Another person of Khoribari who was admitted in Isolation ward of NBMCH also has tested positive. She was a neighbour of the cancer patient lady who tested positive admitted in Covid hospital. She had accompanied the lady during their journey to and from Mumbai and also a cancer patient and had been admitted in the isolation of NBMCH. The Covid positive lady suffering from cancer was admitted at NBMCH on 26 May. 

These three are also being admitted at Dr. Chang’s Covid hospital.

3 Covid patients of Jalpaiguri district includes 2 Asha worker of Sulkapara under Nagarkatta block and 1 paramedic studying at NBMCH who had visited Sulkapara to her relatives. All are admitted at Jalpaiguri Covid hospital. 

All contacts are being identified and admitted at quarantine centres.

Paid quarantibne is also started in Siliguri.

NORTH BENGAL 

Covid hospital

16 patients admitted: 7 patients were admitted today and 9 patients were already admitted in Dr. Chang’s Super Speciality Covid Hospital. They are 4 patients of Alipurduar; a person of Adarshanagar, Ward no. 4 SMC who had been to Delhi; a patient of Bangladesh but residing with a relative of Pundibari-Coochbehar admitted yesterday with a history of travel to Chennai for treatment; a woman of Kholtajote of Khoribari suffering from cancer travelled from Mumbai; a girl of 8 from Malda suffering from leukemia and a kidney patient of Nepali Busty – Bhaktinagar area of ward no 34 near NJP bridge who had returned from Chennai.

So far 28 patients have recovered and released from Dr. Chang’s Covid-19 hospital.

Relatives of all the Covid positive patients are kept in quarantine and their swab tests done and waiting for their result.

DESUN (SARI)

In DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital at  Kawakhali, 16 patients are admitted and 3 are released today after testing negative.Of these 2 are in ICU.1 Covid-19 negative heart patient died today.

1 patient od Darjeeling is admitted.

NBMCH

8 patients with symptoms similar to Covid-19:  Presently with symptoms similar to Covid 19, 2 patients are in Isolation-1 and 6 patients are admitted in Isolation ward- 2 of gynecological maternity department. 

A Covid positive woman of Atal, Naxalbari who gave birth to a baby girl three days ago is also admitted here in surgical Isolation ward. The baby girl has tested negative in the second test too. 

1 lady patient of GTA area is admitted since 26 May.

Source of contamination of the woman is still under investigation.

In the areas of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration- there are 83 (yesterday 69) persons in institutional and 3144 (yesterday 3111) in home quarantine. 

Institutional quarantine facilities:-

In DISHA of Kalimpong 1 fresh person is admitted.

12 are newly admitted in Youth Hostel at Deorali of Kalimpong.

1 is admitted in Farmers, Training Hostel at Pedong of Kalimpong.

In Batasia TB Hospital 8 persons are admitted. 

In Mungpoo ITI at Takdah 4 persons.

7 new are admitted in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong, tally 18. 

At Pokhriabong PHC 2 more are admitted tally 3. 

At Mirik College 5 are admitted, 27 are released. 

At Jamuni GTA Guest House, Pulbazar, 40 are admitted.

83 (yesterday 69) persons are now in 9 different institutional quarantines. 

With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in home quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 2069 to 2082 while in Kalimpong district it is 1042. 

Altogether there are 3144 (yesterday 3111) persons in home quarantine. Those who recently came from different states are now kept in the institutional quarantines till their swab test result confirms their negative to Covid-19. Swab testing so far has tested negative of all the travelers.

STATE 

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 29 May 2020: Todays report states a slow rise in number of new cases and active case.

In the state 277 new cases (1 day before-344, 2 days before- 183) as well as  7 death (1 day before-6 , 2 days before-6) and  107  recovery (1 day before-90, 2 days before-92) is recorded today.

The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 4813 (1 day before-4536, 2 days before-4192) while active cases is 2736 (1 day before-2573, 2 days before-2325). The death toll from the disease till now is 230 (1 day before-223, 2 days before-217, while there is 72 death due to Co-morbidity.

After recovery of the infection, 1775 (1 day before-1668, days before-1578) are released from the hospital and the rate of recovery is 36.87%

The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 40, ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 9282 (1 day before-9256, 2 days before--9236) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 185051 (1 day before-175769, 2 days before-166513) till now since day 1.   

Today 115578 persons (1 day before-109557, 2 days before- 105465) are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 200134 persons (1 day before-191990, 2 days before-186707) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance.

Number of people released from home quarantine was 84556 (1 day before-82433, 2 days before-81242).

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are 16502 persons (1 day before-17421, 2 days before-18121) and so far from these centres 47988 persons (1 day before-46027, 2 days before-44075) were released after recovery.

Currently in the state there are 69 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 53 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
