Sharp rise in home quarantine to 14490 from 9576 (about 4914 in West Bengal )..6 new cases reported in North Bengal.. to 618 from 546 (72 in GTA) ..16 admitted in Desun hospital...



KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 May 2020: Since 36 days, Kalimpong is a Covid 19 free zone though it is still kept under containment zone and Orange zone by the West Bengal health and family welfare department and Red zone by the Union ministry of health and family welfare. Similarly, the last case of Darjeeling district was reported on 14th April, hence it is also a Corona free zone since 24th day.

DAILY REPORT 

NORTH BENGAL 
One more patient recovered: The second 45 yr old male patient of Malda admitted in Dr. Chang's Super specialty Covid-19 Hospital located at Siliguri tested negative and will be released by tomorrow. Yesterday a 60 year old lady of Malda was released after 9 days of admittance.  

6 positive patients at Covid Hospital:  Currently, 6 more Covid-19 patients are being treated at Dr. Chang’s Covid-19 hospital. As they tested positive for the second time their treatment is continuing though their condition is stable. 
All of them donot belong to the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong.The 6 are, an eye specialist doctor of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (resident of Kolkata), 4 of a family (1 of Kamakhyaguri and 1 of Barobisha of Alipurduar and 2 are residents of Coochbehar), and 1 ambulance driver of Chennai who drove a person on 27 April from Chennai to Tripura via Assam and on his return was stopped at Dhupguri and tested positive. 
6 new cases from Uttar Dinajpur & Malda : 2 of Raiganj, 1 of Hemtabad and 3 of Malda new cases of Covid-19 have been reported.All are asymptomatic. 
27 medicos tested negative: All 27 doctors and staff of NBMCH and other hospitals who were co-traveller with the Covid-19 positive eye specialist doctor tested negative twice 3 days ago and are kept at Amit Agarwala quarantine centre near NBMCH and waiting for their third test. 

3 patients at NBMCH tested negative: Test result of 2 patients of Jalpaiguri and Khoribari admitted in the isolation of maternity ward of NBMCH and 1 expectant mother admitted at isolation of surgical ward came to be negative to Covid-19 and are released from isolation and shifted to their respective wards.

In Desun hospital 16 admitted: 16 new patients were admitted in Desun hospital and already there were 4 patients admitted, 14 were released today, that tally 34 patients admitted in Desun (SARI) Hospital with similar symptoms to Covid-19 and they are under observation/ treatment. 
1 patient of  Rangli Tea Estate of Darjeeling district admitted here is released today.

Several suspected people coming from other states and reaching north Bengal are admitted in different government designated Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) hospitals but test result of all came to be negative.



GTA 
7 patients in institutional and 618 in home quarantine: At quarantine centre of ITI, Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district, 3 persons are admitted for quarantine.
1 person in Batasia TB centre, and 3 in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong are undergoing quarantine. 
With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in self quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from310 to 352 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 236 to 266. 

STATE




In the state 108 (1 day before-130, 2 days before- 92) new cases and 11 (1 day before-9, 2 days before-7) death and 49 (1 day before-27) recovery is recorded today and the total number of confirmed cases Covid-19 in West Bengal is 1786 (1 day before-1678, 2 days before-1548) while active cases is 1243 (1 day before-1195 , 2 days before-1101) and death toll till now is 99. 
There is 72 death due to Co-morbidity while 372 (1 day before-323, 2 days before-296) are released after recovery.
The testing of samples of Covid-19 in the 18 (4 new) ICMR testing labs has been increasing testing of samples at a very good rate and today 3601 (1 day before-3015, 2 days before-2611) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 39368 (1 day before-35767, 2 days before-32752) till now since day 1. 

A total of 14490 (1 day before-9576, 2 days before-9618) persons are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and number of home quarantined tally 80969 (1 day before-75541, 2 days before-75083) while 66479 (1 day before-65965, 2 days before-65465) people were released from home quarantine. 
Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are, 5478 (1 day before-4964, 2 days before-4757) persons and so far from these centres, 18796 (1 day before-18307, 2 days before-17610) persons were released in the past.  
Currently in the state there are 68 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid-19 hospitals.

INDIA 
Today is the India’s nationwide lockdown's 46th day or the 6th day of the 3rd phase of lockdown, which has been extended till May 17. Restrictions have been eased in non-hotspot areas from today. 
The number of reported coronavirus cases in India rose 13 percent over the past two days to 59,662, data from the morning update of the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) showed. This is a slightly slower rate of increase compared to the previous 48 hours, when the reported case count rose 14 percent to 52,952.The fatality rate in the country continues to be around 3.3% and the recovery rate has climbed up to 29.9%.
More than 3.9 million cases of the novel coronavirus have been recorded worldwide, including 2,75,160 deaths. The United States — hardest hit by the pandemic in terms of the number of fatalities — has now confirmed a total of 1,283,829 coronavirus cases. The death toll in the country rose to 77,180.
In the last 24 hours, 95 deaths (1 day before-103, 2 days before-126) taking the death toll to 1981 (1 day before-1886, 2 days before-1783) and 3320  (1 day before-3390, 2 days before-3561) new cases, has been recorded in the whole country. Confirmed cases 59662 (1 day before-56342, 2 days before-52952) and 39834 (1 day before-37916, 2 days before-35902) (+2014) active cases are recorded today. 

Today 1272 people that tally 17846 (1 day before-16539, 2 days before-15267) (+1272) have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. 

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 19063 (1 day before-17974, 2 days before-16758) cases and 731 (1 day before-694, 2 days before-651) deaths and 3470 (1 day before-3301, 2 days before-3094) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat, it has 7402 (1 day before-7013, 2 days before-6625) confirmed cases and 449 (1 day before-425 , 2 days before-396) death and 1872 (1 day before-1709, 2 days before-1500) recovery and release from Hospital. 

The next is Delhi with 6318 (1 day before-5980, 2 days before-5532) confirmed cases and 68 (since 2 days before-66) death and 2020 (1 day before-1931, 2 days before-1542) recovery.
