Record highest single-day spike of 7,964 cases in past 24 hours, tally touches 173,763 - 265 deaths, death toll at 4,971.
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 30 May 2020: 67th day of national lockdown-India witnessed a highest ever spike of 7,964 fresh coronavirus cases which is 498 more than the highest cases of May 29 (7,466 cases), it is a record rise.
India faced an alarming rise in new cases a week before too, it had consecutively registered the number of new cases as follows: May 29 (7,466 cases), May 25 (6,977 cases), May 24 (6,767 cases), May 23 (6,654 cases), May 22 (6,088 cases), May 20 (5,611 cases), May 21 (5,609) and May 18 (5,242 cases).
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s latest data released, the total number of cases in the country now stands at 1,73,763 including 86,422 active cases and 265 deaths in the last 24 hours. As many as 82,370 people have been cured/discharged. The death toll has reached 4,971.
After the first confirmed positive case was reported on January 30 in Kerala, the epidemic has expanded its footprints in the country, affecting more than 1.25 lakh people.
The country is under lockdown since 25th March and it has been extended till 31st May 2020 in four phases. Today is the thirteenth day of the fourth phase of the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The number of new cases and death rate has increased since a couple of days today the number of death has increased from 175 to 265. Number of new cases is slowly decreasing with rise in recovery cases for the past few days which lowered the active cases too.

Today record number of 11264 patients were released after recovery (1 day before-3414, 2 days before-3266) that tally 82370 (1 day before-71106, 2 days before-67692) that is 42.45 per cent of patients have recovered which is a very good result.
Within the last 24 hours 86422 active cases (1 day before-89987, 2 days before-86110) is recorded. Today there are 7964 new cases (1 day before-7466, 2 days before-6566) and 173763 confirmed cases (1 day before-165799, 2 days before-158333) is recorded.
Maharashtra still remains the worst-hit state of the country with 62228 confirmed cases (1 day before-59546, 2 days before-56948), 2098 deaths (1 day before-1982, 2 days before-1897,) and 26997 recovery (1 day before-18616, 2 days before-17918.
Tamilnadu is the second highest with 20246 confirmed cases (1 day before-19372, 2 days before-18545) and 154 death (1 day before-145, 2 days before-133) and 11313 recovery (1 day before-10548, 2 days before-9909).
Delhi is again in the third position with highest increase of cases observed, with confirmed cases 17386 (1 day before-18281, 2 days before- 15257), 7846 recovery (1 day before-7495, 2 days before- 7264), and 398 death (1 day before-316, 2 days before- 303).
Gujrat, is in the fourth position and has 15934 confirmed cases (1 day before-15562, 2 days before 15195) and 980 death (1 day before-960, 2 days before-938) and 8611 recovery (1 day before-8003, 2 days before-7549) and release from Hospital.
