BDO Chogyal Moktan Tamang dies in a tragic road accident

KalimNews, 25 May 2020, Kalimpong: A Block Development Officer of Tapan under Dakshin Dinajpur hurt in a road accident died last night. 

Chogyal Moktan Tamang 30 was the BDO of Tapan Block and hailed from DB Road , Sonada of Darjeeling. 

On the fateful day, he had been to an official tour regarding receiving of some labourers coming from Malda and returning his office in a private Suv. At about 1.30 pm, on the way from a checkpoint at Amtali Ghat on the border with Malda district at Kardaha his vehicle skidded off the road and it hit a nearby tree. It is said that the vehicle skidded due to paddy stalks left by villagers to dry on the roads. 

In the accident he and his driver were seriously injured.The locals rescued him in a very serious and unconscious condition from the car and rushed him to Tapan Gramin hospital from where he was referred to Balurghat hospital. 

His condition was very grave as such he was referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, there he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash..

Anit Thapa, chairman of Gorkhaland Territorial Administrtaion sent a message of  condolence on the sad passing away of late Tamang at a very young age.  In the message he had extended his condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members.
