76 in institutional quarantines and 1531 in home quarantines of GTA... 1 Covid-19 negative patient of Siliguri dies at DESUN .1, Covid-19 positive patient tests negative for the second time. ..

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 16 May 2020: 

NORTH BENGAL 

Dead patient of Siliguri tests Covid 19 negative: A 62 year old patient of Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri admitted at ICU of DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital, on 14th with respiratory complications died this morning. The test result of the patient came to be negative and the dead body is handed over to the relatives.

So far eleven death is reported in this hospital but all tested negative to Covid-19. It is reported by the hospital authority that most of the patients are brought in very serious and critical condition as such death is inevitable. 

There are 16 patients in this hospital and most of them are waiting for their 2nd confirmatory test result. 

Of these 16 there are 1 patient each from Darjeeling and Kalimpong district. One each from Kalimpong and Darjeeling were released yesterday while one each from both the districts are admitted today. 

1 Covid-19 positive patient tests negative for the second time: There are 6 Covid-19 patients at Dr. Chang’s Super specialty Covid-19 Hospital. One of the six patients who hails from Barobhisa of Alipurduar district admitted here has tested negative twice, he may be released tomorrow. There are 2 more Covid-19 positive patients of Alipurduar. Others are 1 doctor of NBMCH (resident of Kolkata), 1 of Malda and 1 driver from Chennai and condittion of all is stable.

6 suspected cases at NBMCH: 

As of today in the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital 1 patient is admitted today and  there were 5 already admitted Covid-19 suspected patients. They are- 1 in the Isolation ward 1 , 1 in the Isolation ward 2, 1 in the surgical Isolation ward and another 1 in the Child ward. 

2 females of Mal Bazar and Raiganj are admitted in the gynecological Isolation ward of NBMCH, they also have some symptoms similar to Covid-19 and their tests are done.

They have symptoms of respiratory problem similar to Covid-19 and their test is done but the test result is yet to be received. 

All the wards of Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling district under Siliguri SMC and Kalimpong Municipality are no more in the Containment zone except the area of Shantiniketan housing Complex of Shrusuta nagar of Matigara block in the Darjeeling district  in which a Railway staff had died of Covid-19. The status of Containment zone is withdrawn from these areas by the district magistrates of the respective districts of Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Kalimpong.  

GTA 

76 (yesterday 66) persons in institutional and 1531 (yesterday 1358) in home quarantine: At institutional quarantine centre of ITI, Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district, there are 43 persons. 

15 persons are in Batasia TB centre and 12 in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong. 

At Pokhriabong PHC there are 2, and in Pathasathi motel of Simulbari there are 4 persons that tally 76 persons are now in 5 different institutional quarantines. 

With the home coming of students, workers and other people from other states, the number of people in home quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 782 to 877 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 576 to 654. Altogether there are 1531 persons in home quarantine. 

Those who recently came by train from different states are now kept in the institutional quarantines till their swab test result confirms negative to Covid-19. Swab testing is started since today at Simulabari and 3rd Mile and almost all are sent to institutional quarantine centres located at different locations. Almost all do not have any prominent symptoms and are asymptomatic.

STATE

In the state 115 new cases (1 day before-84, 2 days before- 1817) and 7 death (1 day before-10, 2 days before-8) and 63 recovery (1 day before-61, 2 days before-66) is recorded today.

The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 2576 (1 day before-2461, 2 days before-2377) while active cases is 1452 (1 day before-1407, 2 days before-1394) and death toll till now is 160 (1 day before-153, 2 days before-143). 

There is 72 death due to Co-morbidity while 892 (1 day before-829, 2 days before-768) are released after recovery. 

The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 22 ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 7745 (1 day before-6706, 2 days before-5205) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 77288 (1 day before-69543, 2 days before-62837) till now since day 1.

Today 50258 (1 day before-45681, 2 days before-34414) persons are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 120347 persons (1 day before-115280, 2 days before-103493) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance. 

Number of people released from home quarantine was 70089 (1 day before-69079, 2 days before-68599). 

Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are 9667 (1 day before-8882, 2 days before-8980) persons and so far from these centres 25804 (1 day before-24389, 2 days before-22696) persons were released in the past. 

Currently in the state there are 68 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
