3 May 2020- Husband and son of nurse tested negative .. Kurseong doctor tested negative.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 3 May 2020: The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic has spread across 187 countries and territories. Today is the fortieth day of India’s nationwide lockdown, which has been extended till May 17. Restrictions have been eased in non-hotspot areas.

DAILY REPORT

NORTH BENGAL

Of the 10 Covid-19 patients admitted in Dr. Chang's Super speciality Covid 19 Hospital, 2 patients have been tested negative twice. The two are husband and 22 month old child of a nurse who was Covid 19 patient and only on 29 April she along with her mother and another nurse had tested negative and were released from the hospital.
Both the husband and the child may be released in a day or two. Both husband and 22 month old son of the nurse were released from the hospital this evening. Now Darjeeling district too has no Covid19  patient.

Other remaining 8 patients are, an eye specialist doctor of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (resident of Kolkata), 4 of a family (1 of Kamakhyaguri and 1 of Barobisha of Alipurduar and 2 are residents of Coochbehar), 2 from Malda and 1 ambulance driver of Chennai who drove a person on 27 April from Chennai to Tripura via Assam and on his return was stopped at Dhupguri and tested positive.

At NBMCH, 3 expectant mother in the maternity ward and a driver and his assistant in the isolation ward are under treatment.

The doctor who travelled with other 27 doctors and health staff of NBMCH to Kolkata on 29 April and returned back the next day, tested positive on 1st May. Since then all the co-traveller doctors and nurses are in quarantine in Desun Hospital. 

Among the co-travellers there was an orthopaedic doctor amd some nurses of Kurseong SD hospital. The doctor, nurses, driver and all the contacts of the doctor, 3 patients treated by the doctor in his two private clinic, staff and family members of the clinical chamber are also kept in quarantine since today, till the test result of Kurseong's doctor is complete. Contacts with the doctor and nurses are in self quarantine. Two pharmacy where the doctor visited are also closed for some days.

First Covid 19 test result of the Orthopaedic doctor of Kurseong came to be negative, albeit his confirmative second test will be completed by a couple of days, sources informed. He along with others who came in contact with him and the nurses who travelled with him are in quarantine in Kurseong. 

GTA

In the  Desun (SARI) Hospital 13 persons are under observation/ treatment of which 3 were from Kalimpong and 1 from Darjeeling district and the 4 of the two GTA area were released today.

In addition to that 33 people are in 3 quarantine centres of Siliguri.

There are none in any of the quarantine centres of Kalimpong district.

1 person in Batasia TB centre and 3 persons in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong are admitted for quarantine.

With the home coming of students and others from other states as of today the number of people in self quarantine in the district of Darjeeling is 138 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 139 to 160.

STATE

In the state 41 new cases and 2 death and no discharge of person are recorded today and the total number of confirmed Covid-19 in West Bengal is 912 (yesterday 871) while active cases is 663 (yesterday-624) and 50 death. 

The testing of samples of Covid-19 in the 16 (2 new) ICMR testing labs has been increasing at a very good rate and today 1939 (yesterday-2410) samples were tested within 24 hour that tally 22915 (yesterday-20976) samples. 

As of today 6953 (yesterday-8357) persons are under home observation/surveillance and 62365 (yesterday-60435) persons have completed surveillance. 

Till today under hospital isolation 4532 (yesterday-4412) persons have been admitted and till today 4230 (till yesterday - 4158)have been discharged from hospital isolation.Presently there are still 302 (yesterday -254) persons admitted under hospital isolation. 

In the state there are 66 Covid Hospitals and 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 20741 (yesterday-20288) persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 15811 (yesterday-15328) persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative). 

INDIA

In the last 24 hours, 78 deaths (yesterday it was 73), has been recorded taking the toll to 1,301 in the whole country. 

2204 new cases were reported within 24 hr, and have surged to 39980 confirmed cases (yesterday it was 37776), 28046 active cases The death recorded due to Covid-19 was 1301 (+78) (yesterday it was 1223). Today 615 people that tally 10633 have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 12296 (+790) cases and 521 (+36) deaths and 2000 (+121) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat, it has 5054 (+333) confirmed cases and 262 (+26) death and 896 recovery and release from Hospital.

The next is Delhi with 4122 (+384) confirmed cases and 64 death (+3) and 1256 (+89) recovery.  

No fresh Corona case has been reported in 80 districts since last 7 days 2144 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals have been identified at both Centre and State level which includes 755 dedicated COVID hospitals and 1389 Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC).
