10 Covid patients - 1 doctor of NBMCH, 4 from Alipurduar, 2 of Malda, 1 of Jalpaiguri, 2 of Darjeeling in Dr. Chang's (Covid 19) hospital .. Doctor of Kurseong in quarantine

KalimNews, 2 May 2020, Kalimpong: Covid 19 hospital located in the district of Darjeeling which didnot have any positive cases since 21 days is treating 10 Covid-19 patients.

In addition to yesterdays 9 patient, an eye specialist doctor of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital tested Covid-19 positive and is admitted at Dr. Chang's Superspeciality Covid 19 Hospital in Siliguri.

The other patients are 4 (1 of Kamakhyaguri and 1 of Barobisha of Alipurduar and 2 are residents of Coochbehar), 2 from Malda, 1 driver from Dhupguri and 2 are relatives of a nurse.

In the  NBMCH, 3 expectant mother is admitted at maternity ward and a driver and his assistant are under treatment.

The doctor who travelled with other 27 doctors and health staff of NBMCH to Kolkata on 29 April and returned back the next day on his return complained of some symptoms and later tested positive on 1st May. Since then all the co-traveller doctors and nurses are in quarantine in Desun Hospital.Among the co-travellers there was an orthopaedic doctor amd some nurses of Kurseong SD hospital. The doctor, nurses, driver and all the contacts of the doctor, 3 patients treated by the doctor in his two private clinic, staff and family members of the clinical chamber are also kept in quarantine since today, till the test result of Kurseong's doctor is complete. Contacts with the doctor and nurse of Kurseong and Siliguri are in self quarantine. Two pharmacy where the doctor visited are closed for some days.

In the  Desun (SARI ) Hospital 13 persons are under observation/ treatment of which 3 are from Kalimpong.

In addition to that 33 people are in 3 quarantine centres of Siliguri.

Presently there are 3 persons of Kalimpong district and 1 from Darjeeling district who are not Covid -19 patients and are observation. 
1 person in Batasia TB centre and 3 persons in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong are admitted for quarantine.

With the home coming of students and others from other states as of today the number of people in self quarantine in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 106 to 141 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 69 to 139.

STATE

With 70 new cases and 7 new deaths today the total number of Covid-19 active cases in West Bengal is 624, confirmed cases 871 with 48 deaths.

The testing of samples of Covid-19 in the 16 ICMR testing labs has been increasing at a very good rate and today 2410 samples were tested within 24 hour that tally 20976 samples. 

As of today 8357 (yesterday-13307) persons are under home observation/surveillance and 60435 (yesterday-48793) persons have completed surveillance. 

Till today under hospital isolation 4412 persons have been admitted and presently the total number of people infected by COVID-19 contagion in West Bengal is 697. So far 4158 persons have been discharged from hospital isolation after completing quarantine period while 254 are still admitted and undergoing treatment. In the state there are 67 Covid Hospitals and 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 20288 persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 15328 persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative). 

INDIA 

Globally there are 3,267,184 confirmed cases, 2,29,971confirmed deaths in 215 affected countries. 
In the last 24 hours, the country has recorded 66 deaths, taking the toll to 1,218. 

1971 new cases were reported within 24 hr, and have surged to 37336 (+1971) confirmed cases, 26167 (+1019) active cases, including 1218 (+66) deaths. Till today 9950 (+885) people have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 11506 (+1008) cases and 485 (+26) deaths and 1879 (+106) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat which has 4721 (+326) confirmed cases and 236 (+22) death and 735 (+122) recovery and release from Hospital.

The next is Delhi with 3738 (+223) confirmed cases and 61 death (+2) and 1167 (+73) recovery.
