WB Board looks to publish results soon after lockdown

MP | 24 April 2020| Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) is taking all possible measures to ensure that the results of the Madhyamik Examination get published without delay after the lockdown is lifted. The Board has instructed the examiners to revaluate answer scripts twice before submitting it to the head examiners, so that the checking is more accurate and less time is taken in the tabulation of marks. 

The examiners are supposed to submit answer scripts in two installments. The first lot has already been submitted and the scrutiny has also been held. But the second lot of scripts is lying with the examiners because the lockdown was imposed before they could do the needful. 

The lockdown in educational institutions will be on till June 10 and the second lot of scripts will go the head examiners only after the lockdown is lifted. Some examiners feel that the Board might not get ample time to do scrutiny for the second lot of answer scripts, which probably has prompted the Board to instruct the examiners to check all answer scripts that are with them twice. Under normal circumstances, the results of the Madhyamik Examination get published latest by the last week of May, which is an impossible proposition considering the current scenario. 

"We want to publish results as fast as possible after the lockdown is lifted. We have to make some plans for bringing out results quickly but nothing can be done till the lockdown gets lifted," said Kalyanmoy Ganguly, president of WBBSE. Board officials, however, said that it is difficult to announce any time frame regarding publication of results. 

"We are acting as per directions of the Board so that the students are not inconvenienced by any means," said Sandip Banerjee, headmaster of a government-aided school in North 24-Parganas.
