IMCT team visited Kalimpong: No body accompanied us- Brig Gangwar

KalimNews, 25  April 2020, Kalimpong: The members of Inter Ministerial Central Team visited Kalimpong today along with the SSB escort. After arriving at Kalimpong at about 12.30 am they visited the town area and after that straight near the house of the Singh family in the Containment Zone, dropped down from their vehicle, just looked over and spoke to the media.

Speaking to the reporters a member of the team, Brigadier Ajay Gangwar, the Advisor (Ops) National Disaster Managementment Authority said that district administration had informed the team today that they will not stop the IMCT from coming but as they were busy on other thing they dont have time for the team. He said, "as no one is accompanying us, and we dont know the area but we were told about the figures and statistics, how many quarantine centres are there, how many patients were there, that has been shared with us. We are compiling our report and let the state and central government know our observation, which cannot be shared now." After that they went near the District Hospital and returned back and left for Siliguri via NHPC Bunglow near Mungpoo.

The team was led by the Additional secretary of the ministry of human resource development, Vineet Joshi.
The other members were head of the department of health promotion & education of the All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health, Prof Shibani Dutta, the director of the department of consumer affairs Dharmesh Makwana and deputy secretary of the Union ministry of health & family welfare NB Mani. 
Today almost all the shops were closed throughout the day.
Today in the presence of Anit Thapa, Chairman of GTA another infrared scanner was installed at 3rd mile Kalimpong.

DAILY REPORT

GTA
5 patients (2 nurses and child, husband and mother in law of one of the nurse) are admitted in the isolation centre of Dr. Chang's Superspeciality Covid 19 Hospital . 
Of the 16 persons, 14 are released from the quarantine centre of Gorubathan located at ITI of Upper Fagu under Kalimpong District after completing quarantine period of 14 days. 
5 persons who are not Covid -19 patients are admitted in Desun Hospital, of  them 2 are from Kalimpong district while other 3 are from Darjeeling district. It is learnt from health department sources, during the latest house to house survey it was found that they have been suffering from some prolonged illness for many years and have low immunity. As they may be susceptible to any infection, they are under treatment to avoid any further infection from and to them.
As of today the number of people in self quarantine is increased from 152 to 170 in Darjeeling and from 50 to 61 in Kalimpong district.

STATE
The total number of COVID-19 cases in West Bengal is 571 while active cases is 423 (yesterday-385).
An official release of the West Bengal Health and family welfare department on Covid-19 states that 947 samples were tested within 24 hour totalling 9880 samples for Covid-19 in the state.
As of today 23618 (yesterday-26716) persons are under home observation/surveillance and 36975 (yesterday-33922) persons have completed surveillance. 
Till today under hospital isolation 3726 persons have been admitted and presently the total number of people infected by COVID-19 contagion in West Bengal is 423 (yesterday-456). So far 3519 persons (128-today) have been discharged from hospital isolation after completing quarantine period while 207 are still admitted and undergoing treatment. In the state there are 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 17233 persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 12018 persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative). 
INDIA 

Coronavirus cases in India have surged to 24,942 confirmed cases, including 779 (+61) deaths. As many as 5210 people have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.
Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 6,817 cases and 301 deaths and 957 recovery. 
The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat which has outnumbered Delhi , it has 2815 confirmed cases and 127 death and 265 recovery and release from Hospital.
The next is Delhi with 2514 confirmed cases and 53 death and 857 recovery.  The next highest death is Madhya Pradesh with 92 death.
2144 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals have been identified at both Centre and State level which includes 755 dedicated COVID hospitals and 1389 Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC).
