Seema Suraksha Bal nets Nigerian sans papers After questioning ,Jonathan is handed over to the Darjeeling Police

SNS, 30 October 2019, SILIGURI: The 41st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has apprehended a Nigerian national at Panitanki near the Indo-Nepal border near Siliguri.
SSB officers said 44 -year old Stephan Jonathan was caught yesterday when he was trying to enter Nepal without proper document like passport and visa.
Jonathan, a resident of Lagos, had revealed that he was earlier arrested by the Tamil Nadu police for overstaying in India and had fined Rs 10.000.
Later, he was given bail, but that the passport was still with the police, SSB officers said.
Sources said the Tirupur police had arrested nine Nigerian s on the charge of staying in the country without proper documents in October last year and that Mr Jonathan could be one of them.
The case had been registered under Sections 3 and 4 of the Foreigners Act, it is learnt. SSB officers said that Indian currency worth Rs 4,000 and a mobile handset were recovered from him.
"He said that he was directed to approach Tamil Nadu officials if he wanted to leave India. After questioning by different intelligence agencies, he has been handed over to the Darjeeling Police," an officer said.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the same battalion apprehended an Indian national/Gyalpo: when he was entering India from Nepal with 2,750 kg of silver worth Rs 1,33,375 meant to be taken to Dharmshala in Himachal Pradesh.
