GNLF veteran joins Tamang
VIVEK CHHETRI,TT, 05 Aug 2019: Darjeeling: Kamal Gurung, a GNLF warhorse, joined the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (Binay Tamang camp) on Sunday and accused the president and general secretary of his former party of accepting money from a prominent Trinamul leader.
Besides naming GNLF president Mann Ghisingh and general secretary Mahendra Chhetri, Kamal alleged that the GNLF "leadership" was hobnobbing with Trinamul.
Kamal, earlier the general secretary of GNLF youth wing (Darjeeling branch), said he was "hurt" with the GNLF. Despite being with the party even when Bimal Gurung held sway in the hills, only "moneyed people" ran it, Kamal added. "Now, only moneyed people, is running the GNLF. I am now forced to leave the GNLF…During Bimal Daju's time, we used to go and meet budo (GNLF founder Subash Ghisingh) in 2008, putting our life at stake. Mann Ghisingh was not available for comment. Chhetri, refuted the allegations. "The allegations are false. Such allegations are bound to come up after joining another party. Kamal should disclose the amount (of money) he accepted….as long he was with us, everything was fine," said Chhetri.
The GNLF had aligned with the BJP and the Morcha's Bimal Gurung camp ahead of the Lok Sabha polls this year.
