TT, 7 Jun 2019, Calcutta: The 2020 Madhyamik exams will start on February 18, the secondary education board announced on Thursday The schedule for the exams, which will end on February 27, has been uploaded on the board's website. The exams will start with the first languages
Usually, the dates for the next year's exams are declared on the day the results are announced
This year, the Madhyamik results were declared on May 21, but the dates for the 2020 exams were not declared that day because the election process was on The polls had ended on May 19 and the counting was held on May 23
"The dates of the Madhyamik exams are decided after a meeting with police and the administration. This year, the meeting was held only after the election process got over," an official of the state board of secondary education said "So, there was a delay in announcing the exam dates for next year," the official said
Both regular and external candidates will follow the same schedule, the official said The dates for physical and social service and work education will be announced later, though, according to the board notice
The exams will be held in only one paper on every exam day from 11.45am to 3pm, the board has said in the notice.
The first 15 minutes are meant for reading the question papersIn 2019, the exams started on February 12 and the last exam was held on February 22. At least 10,64,740 examinees took the exams this year.
