Cabinet berth for hill MLA: Morcha
VIVEK CHHETRI, TT, 21 Apr 2019, Darjeeling: The Binay Tamang camp of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha on Saturday said it had been promised a cabinet berth in the Mamata Banerjee government if its candidate wins the Darjeeling Assembly seat in the May 19 bypoll.
"Our candidate will be made a minister in the Bengal cabinet…we have already had talks with chief minister Mamata Banerjee," Keshav Raj Pokhrel, central committee member of the Morcha's Tamang group, said here.
Other Morcha leaders said the central committee would meet within the next couple of days to decide their candidate. The bypoll is being held because Amar Singh Rai quit as the MLA to contest the Lok Sabha polls as Trinamul's Darjeeling nominee backed by the Tamang group of the Morcha.
The bypoll counting will be held along with that of the general election on May 23..
